    SAA hammer spring spacer implant

I need to remove my Uberti SAA Cattleman grips prior to implanting a hammer spring spacer from Brownells. Merely the 2-slice grips practise non have a screw belongings them together similar the Colt SAA I am familiar with. How do I remove these grips? Do I just remove the backstap past unscrewing the three backstrap screws and the woods grips release in some manner? Am I missing something hither? Thank yous , Bill

  2. You Remove The Two Backstrap Screws At The Top,

And the i on the front lesser and slide the backstrap off. The stocks volition so slide off the backstrap.

  3. Wil Terry is right, but if all you are going too do is put a spacer under the mainspring it volition not exist necessary to remove the grips from the backstrap. Merely remove the two top backstrap screws and the one in the bottom, and then slide off the backstrap and grips every bit an associates. Supplant in reverse order.

    greater addiction is correct....

Quondam Fuff... yous are right. The Ubereti I purchased half-dozen mos ago lead to a recent purchase of a Filly SAA. I'one thousand tinkering with the Uberti to larn my way around SAA'south earlier tinkering with my Colt. Regards, Bill

  7. Well in that example ...

Go to www.gunbooks.com (or Brownells, or whatever big bookseller) and buy a re-create of Jerry Kuhnhausen'southward volume: "The Colt Unmarried Action Revolvers - A Shop Manual (Vol. 1 & 2).

Thereafter y'all will know everything and anything almost working on Filly Single Activity revolvers and other like clones. Oh ya' the book will cost yous a bit, but nothing like a mistake will if y'all're working on a gun and brand a bo-bo. You read this book, and thereafter yous'll exist the resident expert in your neighborhood.

I other matter. In case you lot're worried, the book is written in "layman's English" rather and so something only an engineer or gunsmith would sympathize, and to brand information technology easier it'southward filled with how-to-practice-it pictures.

    SAA hammer leap spacer implant

Implanted Brownell neoprene hammer spring spacers in Uberti and Colt SAA's this morning. Thanks again for the tips on gripframe removal from the board. This less than v-minute modification, costing less than $five for both spacers, really lightened the finger pressure required to fire the revolvers. Regards, Bill

Back in pre-historic times nosotros did this with leather. Fourth dimension marches on ... :D

  10. Bill, if yous enjoyed making that mod be sure and check this article over on Gunblast.com:

    Slicking up an Uberti

Not only does information technology answer your original question (with pics to boot) merely the mods the author suggests are outstanding for operation on this gun. I did 'em exactly as detailed in this article and the departure was truly amazing! My Cattleman shoots so incredibly well-baked now that information technology could truly compare to something much more than expensive. Here's a little writeup I did on it over on Handloads.com:

    Wolff reduced ability springs
